Dear Friends,
Thank you so much to everyone who joined our community conversation at Tumbleroot earlier this week. I am grateful to all of you who shared your experiences, ideas, frustrations, and hopes. You are a testament to how deeply Santa Fe cares about our students, our teachers, and the future of public education.
Here are just a few of the powerful themes we heard:
- Families want schools to nurture curiosity and joy in learning — with more hands-on, nature-based, and creative learning opportunities.
- We need more accessible ways to communicate with the Board and District — beyond a 3-minute comment period. Ongoing community conversations must continue.
- Support for teacher and student mental health is essential — and the burden on educators must be acknowledged and eased.
- Parents and volunteers want to be more engaged — but we must remove barriers so it’s easier to connect with teachers and schools.
- Families want diverse learning pathways — from bilingual education and outdoor learning to Montessori-style environments and stronger support for special education.
- School facilities must reflect the dignity and brilliance of our kids — safe, clean, modern spaces matter.
Your voices will continue shape our work going forward. We are already following up on the ideas you shared — from teacher supports, to volunteer coordination, to school-based opportunities for community partnership.
And, we have a major opportunity to support some of these initiatives in front of us right now!
We can vote YES for safe, healthy, inspiring classrooms — with no increase in tax rates!
This election, the $150 million GO Bond will fund:
- Repairs and upgrades across aging school buildings
- Modern heating/cooling and technology systems
- Outdoor learning and play spaces
- Healthier classrooms where every child can thrive
Early voting is open — and Election Day is next Tuesday, November 4!

Together, we’re not just talking about the future of our schools, we’re building it.
With so much gratitude,
